Morning Light School – Eugene, Oregon
Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong Overview
The purpose of the Morning Light School Eugene is to promote a greater understanding of traditional Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong in the greater Eugene, Oregon area. Instruction is offered in authentic Yang family Tai Chi Chuan, including Yang family Sword, Saber and Push Hands, as well as instruction in traditional lineages of Chinese Qigong and Taoist and Buddhist meditation. All levels of instruction are available from novice to advanced students, as well as instructor training.
Lead Instructor, James Fox, has nearly 30 years of continuous experience. He has studied tai chi chuan extensively with the Yang family since 1996 in both China and the U.S. He previously operated an official Yang family Tai Chi Chuan Center in Buffalo, New York prior to relocating to Eugene, Oregon after retiring as Professor Emeritus from SUNY – Buffalo State. Additionally, James deepened his knowledge of these arts by pursing post-doctoral studies examining the cultural and historical foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine, at Huazhong University in Wuhan, China. He also studied Traditional Chinese Medicine applications, such as Taoist Medical Qigong, in China and Tibet under the direction of Qigong Grandmaster Zhang Yuanming.
All classes are taught in small and informal groups to allow individualization and to be responsive to students’ learning styles and limitations. Some classes are offered at selected locations through agreements with cooperating studios and health organizations. However, the core of the curriculum is offered directly through the Morning Light School.
The fee for all group classes is $7.00 per class for Yang Chen Fu Center members, $10 for non-members. The fees for private instruction are $25 per hour for enrolled students and $40 for new students. See Just Breathe, Eugene OR for class fees at their studios.
